What is Arthrosamid®?
Arthrosamid® is a new type of injection for knee osteoarthritis. It's a non-degradable hydrogel that is injected into the knee joint to act as a cushion and reduce pain.
Is Arthrosamid® right for me?
Arthrosamid® is intended for adults suffering from knee osteoarthritis pain. It's best to schedule a consultation to determine if this treatment is suitable for you, or for more information, download the Arthrosamid Patient Brochure below.

How does Arthrosamid® work?
Arthrosamid® works in two ways:
- Replenishes synovial fluid: It increases the thickness and viscosity of the fluid surrounding your knee joint, improving lubrication and cushioning.
- Integrates with the joint capsule: The gel fills irregularities in the joint and provides a cushioning effect.
Pain relief for Knee Osteoarthritis
Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease where the cartilage cushioning your knee joint gradually wears away. This breakdown leads to bone rubbing on bone, causing pain, stiffness, swelling, and reduced mobility in the knee. As the most common form of arthritis, knee OA significantly impacts people's lives, especially with age.
Despite being a leading cause of disability, research on definitive treatments for knee OA remains limited. While a permanent cure hasn't been discovered yet, there are effective strategies to manage symptoms and improve quality of life.
Millions worldwide currently live with knee OA, particularly those over 65. Traditionally, treatment has focused on pain relief and symptom management. However, advancements are being explored to potentially slow the progression of the disease.
Synovial pain (synovitis)
Many people with knee osteoarthritis (OA) experience synovial pain. This pain arises from inflammation of the synovial membrane, the lubricating lining of your knee joint. Studies have shown a strong correlation between synovial inflammation and the severity of pain in knee OA patients.
What are the benefits of Arthrosamid®?
Potential benefits of Arthrosamid® include:
- Reduced pain and stiffness: By improving lubrication and cushioning, Arthrosamid® may help alleviate pain and stiffness associated with OA.
- Improved mobility and function: With less pain and stiffness, you may experience greater ease of movement and improved ability to perform daily activities.
- Potentially long-lasting relief: Studies suggest a single injection of Arthrosamid® may provide pain relief for up to three years.
Minimally invasive procedure: Compared to joint replacement surgery, Arthrosamid® is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure with a shorter recovery time.

What are the potential side effects of Arthrosamid®?
As with any medical procedure, there are potential side effects associated with Arthrosamid®. These may include:
- Injection site pain, swelling, or bruising
- Temporary discomfort in the knee
- Infection (rare)
How is Arthrosamid® administered?
Arthrosamid® is administered through a single injection into the knee joint by a qualified healthcare professional, typically an orthopedic surgeon or rheumatologist. Ultrasound guidance is often used to ensure accurate placement.
How long does Arthrosamid® last?
Studies suggest Arthrosamid® may provide pain relief for up to two years, although individual results may vary.
