Although the NHS does PCR tests, they are not available to the general public, and most governing bodies will only accept results completed and signed off by private healthcare providers.

Chester PCR Testing

Tests take place in either our clinic or your own home and you can let us know what you would prefer when you make your appointment. 

During the appointment, one of our medical staff will take your sample by using a long swab to collect fluid from the back of your throat and nose. This sample is then carefully labelled and sent to the laboratory for analysis.

The test is not painful, although you may feel slight discomfort. Any discomfort will pass as soon as the swab is removed.

Results

Samples are tested in the laboratory for the live covid virus and your results will be ready within two working days. A negative result means that you did not have the covid virus when you took the test. A positive result means that you had the covid virus when you took the test. If you receive a positive result, you should start self-isolating immediately.

We understand that knowing your result can have a big impact on your life, which is why we have a quick turnaround time on tests. Some results will be back in as little as 12 hours, although we ask that you allow 48 hours or two working days for your results to be available.

As soon as we know your results we will contact you and send you any certificates or documents you may need with the result. You can request your fit-to-fly, fit-to-work, or test-to-release certificate when you make your appointment.

PCR flight testing Chester

Airlines and border authorities now require a fit-to-fly certificate from an NHS trained UK General Medical Council (GMC) doctor before you can fly. This medical must be completed by a private medical provider and within a few days before your departure.
