On the 7th of May 2021 - the UK Government announced that travelling abroad will be allowed once again from the 17th of May. Your Covid status will have an effect on your travel plans. Please check ahead before your departure for official confirmation on what you require from the country you are entering.
There are different rules depending on which country you are travelling to and returning from. Some countries will require travellers to provide a negative COVID test in the UK before entry, or have an official flight-certificate, others a period of self-isolation and quarantine before you can enter. Please use our destination checker below to see which test you need to travel.
Likewise, on your return to England, you will need to follow different rules depending on the country (or countries you have been in in the prior ten-day period) from which you have returned from.
Regardless of the country on your arrival to the UK, you must 1. complete a passenger locator form, 2. take a negative COVID-19 test in the country you are located, 3. book a day 2 COVID-19 test with Ghosh Medical.
Once you return from countries on the Green List, including
- Faroe Islands
- Falkland Islands
- New Zealand
- Portugal, including Madeira and Azores
You will be free to go about your life provided your test returns negative.
The government states "you should not travel to red list countries or territories for leisure purposes.", red list countries include:
- Cape Verde
- Democratic Republic of Congo
- French Guiana
- South Africa
- United Arab Emirates
You will only be allowed to enter the UK if you are a British or Irish National, or you have residence rights in the UK. You must stay in a Government-mandated quarantine hotel.
If you return from any other country - the amber list (which the government states, "You should not travel to amber list countries or territories for leisure purposes."), you must quarantine at home or in the place you are staying for 10 days and also book a COVID-19 test to be taken on or before day 2 and on or after day 8 with Ghosh Medical.
Passengers also have the option to opt into the Test to Release scheme on day 5 of their quarantine, although they will still need to take a test on day 8. As an approved test provider on the Test to Release scheme, Ghosh Medical can provide quick and convenient testing services.
Please see the official government guidance for more information, including further details on all Amber List countries. To take part in the scheme, you will be asked to enter details of your test in the passenger locator form. You must do this to take part in the scheme and you should book your test before you travel to England.
