Dr Rathur brings with him over 10 years’ experience as a Consultant Endocrinologist, Diabetologist and Acute Physician at Tameside Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Having undergone his initial postgraduate training in Manchester and obtained MRCP (UK) in 2002, Dr Rathur pursued a career in diabetic neuropathy as a clinical research fellow at the University of Manchester, Manchester Medical School. Here, he completed his MD thesis titled 'Studies in the Pathogenesis and management of diabetic neuropathy and foot ulceration'.
Dr Rathur’s endocrine, diabetes and general medicine training commenced when he took up a registrar post as part of the North West rotation. He has a keen interest in type 2 diabetes, obesity and bariatric medicine, Vitamin D deficiency, adrenal disorders, and thyroid and parathyroid disorders. He is also actively involved in both post and undergraduate medical education.
Dr Rathur is an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Manchester, as well as an undergraduate tutor at Tameside Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. In addition to this, Dr Rathur is the Mortality lead at his Trust.
