Mr. Ali Juma MB.BS (London) (FRCS plast)

I am a Senior Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgeon.

My experience spans 20 years as a consultant in Plastic Reconstructive and Cosmetic surgery providing surgical and non-surgical treatments. I am a mentor for less experienced plastic surgeons both in the UK and overseas.

I was an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh in general surgery and held a position as a lecturer in the University of Liverpool in medical education. I was a trainer for the LMEDAC courses teaching the art of safe facial non-surgical injectable treatments on cadavers in the UK.

I am a member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) and the British Association of Aesthetic and Reconstructive Plastic Surgeons (BAPRAS). In addition I am a member of the Royal College of Surgeons England and Edinburgh.

I am widely published including many articles in national and international journals on both surgical and non-surgical treatments some of which were CPD accredited articles. Most recently I co-authored a chapter in an international book soon to be published, entitled: The Safe Evolution of Liposuction into Liposculpture.

I am very much patient care focused and aspire to provide the best service in looking after my patients to ensure a high level of governance. I am a perfectionist; I enjoy attention to details when assessing and operating on my patients.

Elaborate attention to details is the essence of Plastic Reconstructive and Cosmetic surgery, which resonates with my ethos, making it one of the reasons I chose it as a specialty. Ethical and safe patients’ care are other attributes I also focus on ever since I chose medicine as a career pathway.

I enjoy what I do n my clinical role, and at the same time I enjoy writing articles for medical journals and magazines as I feel exchanging knowledge as a way of learning for me too. We never stop learning, and the saying the pen is mightier than the sword remains true, however, in the 21st Century perhaps the key board is mightier than either.
