Throughout the Coronavirus lockdown, our facilities have remained open, with reduced hours, so that we may still serve those patients who need scan appointments or face to face consultations that are urgent or clinically necessary.
The safety of our patients and of our employees is our highest priority. As we move towards an easing of restrictions, we aim to continue to take all necessary protective measures to ensure that we are reducing all possible risk to an acceptable minimum. We hope that this will provide our patients and service users with confidence.
Across each of our sites, we have taken numerous steps to ensure the safety of patients and our teams. These measures will continue until such time that the risk has been reduced:
- We will continue to screen our patients, both during the booking process.
We will ask whether patients have any symptoms strongly associated with COVID-19 or if they have encountered someone who has received a positive diagnosis. All visitors will also have a temperate check upon arrival. We will not allow anyone with symptoms to attend their appointment unless it is clinically urgent. - As part of the screening process, we are streaming patients into management categories to ensure that patients who are shielding can be seen safely without unnecessary contact with other patients or staff.
- We will continue to implement a strict visitor policy.
To reduce the number of non-essential people in our departments, we kindly ask that patients attend on their own. - Our facilities have been cleared of all non-essential items.
We will not be providing magazines or newspapers and will also not be offering drinks in our waiting areas. Where possible, doors are kept open to reduce the number of touchpoints as much as possible. - All facilities and equipment are disinfected after each patientusing approved policies and procedures.
We have researched and purchased the best anti-viral and anti-bacterial products so we can be sure that any equipment or surface we encounter is clean and safe. - We are accustomed to using personal protective equipment (PPE) and will continue to make use of PPE to protect our staff and patients.
All team members wear a mask, gloves and an apron which are changed between each patient contact. Patients are asked to wear a face covering but we will provide one if necessary. - We have supplies of hand sanitiser which are available for staff and visitors to use.
All our staff are trained in best practice for hand hygiene and we continue to monitor compliance with these guidelines on a continuous basis.
What can our patients do to keep safe?
We are communicating the following instructions to all our patients so that they may contribute to the fight against the spread of coronavirus.
- Patients should contact us BEFOREattending if they have any concerns over their normal health, particularly if they have developed a cough, fever or any other symptom that has been commonly associated with COVID-19.
- Patients should exercise good hand washing practice and wash their hands for a minimum of 20 seconds in warm soapy water, ideally before attending. Hand sanitiser is available in our clinic and should be used upon arrival.
- Patients may also wish to wear gloves and a mask. However, these are not a substitute for hand washing.
- Patients should not to bring anyone with them to their appointment unless they need specific assistance. Our waiting rooms will be closed to any non-essential visitor.
