What is cellulite?
Cellulite is a disturbance in the layers of fat under the skin, causing it to push outwards. This leaves skin with a dimpled, textured appearance that might also be coupled with sagging of the outer layers of skin. Cellulite is a harmless condition that affects the vast majority of adult women, and also some men. However, the appearance of cellulite can be distressing and reduce a person's confidence. Reducing cellulite or getting rid of it entirely is a common goal for many of our patients.
There is no one cause for cellulite, and it is not necessarily caused by weight gain - though this is a leading factor. A poor diet, a slow metabolism, hormonal changes, pregnancy and a sedentary lifestyle can all contribute. Dehydration is also thought to play a part in the appearance of cellulite. It is most commonly found on the buttocks and thighs, though the breasts, stomach and arms can also be affected.
How does Cellfina cellulite treatment work?
If you are looking for an effective cellulite treatment in Liverpool, Ghosh Medical Group is offering Cellfina procedures to patients. Cellfina is an intensive treatment that targets the cause of cellulite.
Using microblading (a series of tiny incisions), the bands of connective tissue are loosened. This can ease the pushing through of fat which generally causes the appearance of cellulite. Unlike topical ointments and lotions, which only target the skin's surface, Cellfina gets under the skin and fights cellulite at its roots. This is an extremely popular and in-demand cellulite treatment and Liverpool residents now have access to it through our clinic!
What can be treated?
If you want to get rid of cellulite and enjoy smoother, firmer skin, then the Ghosh Medical Group has treatments available that can really make a difference. We offer a range of cosmetic treatments for our patients, helping you achieve that firm and youthful look you have been searching for. Cellfina can be administered within our Liverpool clinic and helps patients avoid drastic surgeries and spending money on creams and lotions that promise to shift stubborn areas, but make no lasting impact.
How long does the treatment take?
It can take between one and three hours per session to achieve the right effect, depending on how severe the cellulite is and the size of the affected area. A local anaesthetic will be administered during treatment; some soreness and tenderness are common afterwards, and bruising can occur in the days after the treatment. You should expect to be able to drive home following cellulite treatment in our Liverpool clinic.
How long should I expect for the treatment to have an effect?
Once that bruising has settled, the effects of the treatment should become evident very quickly. Cellfina targets the bands within the skin and the fat that pushes through them: with the relieving of that tension, skin can revert to a smoother, more youthful appearance. The effect can last for many months and even years, though future appointments might be needed if the cellulite develops again.
What precautions should I take after the treatment (aftercare)?
As cellulite treatment is a nonsurgical procedure and not overly invasive, disruption should be minimal. You should be able to resume most normal activities after 24 hours.
Any precautions to take following your cellulite treatment will be outlined to you by one of our medical professionals at the time, but will likely include:
