What is Hyperhydrosis?
Sweating is necessary to control body temperature during times of exercise and in warm/hot surroundings, and is a normal response to a rise in temperature or anxiety. Sweating is regulated by the sympathetic nervous system. In about 1% of the population, this system is revved-up and works at a very high level, causing sweating to occur at inappropriate times, far in excess of the amount necessary to maintain normal body temperature. It can occur in many different areas of the body, and the condition is known as Hyperhydrosis, which means 'excessive sweating'
How Does The Treatment Work
BOTOX® is a prescription medicine that is injected into the problem area. It works at the neuromuscular junction by blocking the transmission of signals from the nerve ending to the targeted sweat glands. When the sweat glands don’t receive chemical signals, the severe sweating stops.
Sweat continues to be produced elsewhere. Your sweat doesn't go anywhere or get backed up because the sweat simply is not produced in the areas treated with BOTOX®. However, the rest of your body will produce moisture normally.
The actual treatment takes about 10 to 15 minutes. A small amount of diluted solution is injected into the affected area through a very fine needle placed just under the skin in order to minimize discomfort and maximize accuracy.
What Can Be Treated?
Botox® is most commonly used to reduce wrinkles on the face but can be used to reduce excessive sweating of the armpits and palms of hands.
What Results Can You Expect?
The treatment is not a cure; your symptoms will return gradually, and you will know when the time is right for another treatment. Results typically last around 6 months.
Possible side effects of Botox®
Side Effects are very rare: though bruising is the most common. Side effects noted are; small areas of redness at the treatment site, lasting 2-3 hours, dull heavy sensation. All possibilities will be explained in detail before any treatment takes place.
After Treatment & Aftercare Information
You should notice a significant reduction in underarm sweating within 4 weeks of your first treatment, once the treatment becomes effective.
What is The Cost of Treatment
A single treatment is £400

What to Expect Before, During and After Treatment
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT BEFORE TREATMENT?
Your physician will have an in-depth consultation with you to understand your needs and what facial features you would like to enhance. They will explain all the options to make sure that your Juvéderm® treatment totally satisfies your expectations.
WILL THE PROCEDURE HURT?
The smooth consistency of the products in the Juvéderm® range allows your medical physician to administerthe filler easily and smoothly. Many also contain 0.3% Lidocaine to reduce injection pain for a more comfortable experience.
WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER TREATMENT?
Your physician will advise you on your aftercare. You may be advised to stop wearing makeup for up to 12 hours. You may also be told to avoid the sun, as well as saunas and steam rooms, for 2 weeks. Some people experience a little temporary tenderness, swelling or bruising around the injection sites. It is also recommended that you avoid additional treatments in the treated area for the next 7 days.
WILL THERE BE SWELLING?
Following a filler injection, you may experience slight redness, swelling, or bruising at the injected area. These effects should not last for more than a week. Remember, 12 hours after your procedure you can cover up any skin discoloration with makeup
Q: Are you members of the "Treatment You Can Trust Scheme?"
We are not a member of the voluntary 'Treatments You Can Trust' Scheme. Our practices are not registered with the 'Treatments You Can Trust' voluntary scheme because we are already registered with and regulated by the General Medical Council (GMC) and the Nursing & Midwifery Council(NMC) the government's own regulator of Doctors and Nurses in England, as well as being part of the Spire Health Care Hospitals Group stringent clinic protocols and criteria.
We are regulated in the same way as GP surgeries, hospitals and other independent healthcare providers which means our standards imposed for registrations are far more rigorous than the voluntary IHAS scheme has set out for clinics to meet.
We do welcome the IHAS voluntary scheme in a currently unregulated cosmetic injectable market as we believe the industry needs proper regulation to safeguard patient safety from 'cowboy' providers who can still operate outside any voluntary scheme. In the aftermath of the PIP breast implant scandal, we believe that all cosmetic procedures should be regulated.
