Tips for Childrens Colds & Flu
Is Flu Dangerous?
YES IT IS. Flu is more dangerous for some people than others and can develop into serious illnesses, such as bronchitis and pneumonia. For those in at-risk groups, flu can even cause life-threatening complications.
Some flu seasons can be worse than others and it is difficult to predict in advance how serious a flu season can or will be. In the past two decades, the highest number of deaths in the UK attributed to flu was more than 20,000 in the epidemic of 1999/2000.
Dont People Just Fight It Off?
Not necessarily. Flu is a viral infection of the respiratory tract that is quickly and easily transmitted through coughs and sneezes. It can also be spread through touching something like a door handle after an infected individual and then touching your nose or mouth.
Symptoms can include a high temperature, headache, dry cough, aches, and it can affect your ability to work or carry out day-to-day tasks.
